INTRALIPID

Standard Prescription

Bolus: __  mL IV over 1 minute (__ mL/kg)
Infusion: __ mL/min (__ mL/k/min) for __ minutes

Dosages

Lipid rescue for overdose of local anesthesia:

Bolus: 1.5 mL/kg IV over 1 minute; maybe be repeated once or twice for persistent cardiovascular collapse.

Continuous IV infusion (following bolus): 0.25 mL/kg/min.

Rate may be doubled to 0.5 mL/kg/min if blood pressure remains low.

Continue infusion for at least 10 minutes after attaining circulatory stability.

Recommended maximum: 10 mL/kg over the first 30 minutes

Mechanism of Action

Antidote for poisoning or overdose caused by a wide array of other (non-local anesthetic) lipophilic agents

Injection: 20%
Intralipid: 100% soybean oil
