ABOBOTULINUM-TOXINA (Paeds) (Dysport Therapeutic) Mechanism of action: Botulinum neurotoxin type-A (BoNT-A) blocks the release of acetylcholine from peripheral cholinergic nerve terminals inhibiting neurotransmitter release which results in flaccid paralysis Used for the treatment of disorders characterised by excessive cholinergic neuronal activity such as dystonia or spasticity. Ref: 4, 32, 44, 207 Last update: 2023-04-16	Intramuscular Injection: 300 units vial, 500 units vial	Lower Limb Spasticity: 10-15 units/kg/leg up q3 months. Max: 30 units/kg total for both legs, or 1000 units total, whichever is lower.	Botulinum products are NOT interchangeable Q3 months is the shortest frequency recommended. Treatment frequency may be extended based upon response Effects of all botulinum toxin products may spread from the area of injection. These symptoms have been reported hours to weeks after injection Standard Prescription: Abobotulinum - toxinA __ units (__ units/kg/dose/leg) IM into each leg every 3 months.
