Administration: Infuse over 60 minutes. COMMENTS: Obtain medications from the Prevention of Perinatal HIV Transmission kits. Call Oak Tree at 604-875-2250 to inform them of delivery and consultation for monitoring therapy. Click here for Oak Tree Clinic Guidelines. For infants of Birthing Individual/Mother at high risk of HIV, infant medications may be discontinued if maternal HIV infection ruled out (based on maternal HIV diagnostic PCR) in consultation with Oak Tree Clinic. If infant discharged on zidovudine send supply home with caregiver. Oral route preferred. Oral dose can be administered with feeds or on an empty stomach. Do not mix zidovudine into formula.
